1938 Texas Independence Centennial. PDS Set. (PCGS).,All examples are individually graded and encapsulated by PCGS, as follows: 1938 MS-67; 1938-D MS-67, CAC; and 1938-S MS-66, CAC. A lightly toned, satin-textured trio with a pleasant appearance throughout. The final PDS set in the Texas Centennial commemorative half dollar series, the 1938 boasts limited mintages of 5,000 pieces per issue. Actual distribution to contemporary collectors was even more limited, the 1938 at 3,775 coins, the 1938-D at 3,770 pieces, and the 1938-S at 3,808 coins. The unsold examples were melted in the Mint, creating a scarce trio. (Total: 3 coins)From the Alexander Collection. Acquired from Stacks, February 7, 1949.
