1798 Capped Bust Right Half Eagle. BD-4. Rarity-4+. Large 8, 13-Star Reverse. EF-45 Details--Cleaned (ANACS). OH.,An appealing and scarce example of this desirable issue that deserves serious consideration. The surfaces are impressively composed in light of the stated qualifier, free from any distracting hairlines or brightness. The luster remains intact and satiny in most areas, with honey gold hues to complement the overall yellow patina. A slight softness at center is characteristic of this die marriage, and the peripheries are left sharp and intricate throughout. Strong eye appeal and technical preservation should insure that this piece is not underestimated. <p>The BD-4 pairing is recognizable for its large rim cuds at the upper reverse border, making attribution easy even to the naked eye. Harry W. Bass, Jr. owned two examples of this variety, demonstrating different die states of these cuds as well as the cracks throughout the obverse legend.,PCGS# 8078. NGC ID: 25NN.,,
