1860-S Three-Dollar Gold Piece. AU-50 (PCGS).,Mostly light honey-gold surfaces have some subtle rose highlights discernible with the aid of a strong light. The strike is bold overall and there are ample remnants of a satin finish. This is a very high grade survivor of the scarce and conditionally challenging 1860-S three-dollar gold issue. Just 7,000 pieces were struck, with 2,592 examples melted at the mint for a net distribution of just 4,408 coins. Extant examples number fewer than 200 pieces in all grades.,PCGS# 7981.
