1855-O Gold Dollar. Type II. AU-55 (NGC).,This is a very well produced and preserved survivor for both the type and the issuing mint. Bold to sharp detail in most areas includes a nearly complete date and lettering in the word DOLLARS in the center of the reverse. The toning is even light olive-gold and there are a few wispy grazes in the left obverse field. Immensely popular with advanced gold collectors, the 1855-O is not only the final New Orleans Mint issue of its denomination, but it is also the only one of the Type II design. Survivors from a mintage of 55,000 pieces are scarce and few are in Mint State, making Choice AUs such as this a particularly good value.,PCGS# 7535. NGC ID: 25C7.,,
