Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Corn Exchange Bank of Philadelphia. Jan. 15, 1862. $1. Very Fine.,(PA-425 G2a) ABNC. Portrait of Union General Winfield Scott at center. Green tinted denomination counters at top left and right. Woman seated with wheat and sickle at bottom left. Woman seated with cornucopia at bottom right. Green 1 protectors left and right of Scotts portrait. A great Civil War era note and a popular late issue ABNC product. Scott, already a national hero, was Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army before being squeezed out of command at the age of 75 due to health problems and political disagreements. This example is a bright note that displays average circulation and bold inks. A few small rust specs are seen at top left and there is a small spindle hole near the upper right. This is among the nicest examples we have seen of the type.
