CHINA. Sinkiang. Ration Gold 2 Mace, 1907. Tihwa Mint.Fr-7b; L&M-1050; Kann-1507; Y-9; Xingjiang-412; Chang Foundation-pg.32 #10; Wenchao-pg.50 #12 (rarity three stars). Although large quantities of silver coinage were produced in Sinkiang, gold issues were struck in limited quantity and should be considered rare.
This issue was struck in 1907 by military governor Wang Shu Tan for a brief period of only about four months. Approximately 5000 gold taels were minted into the denominations of 1 Mace and 2 Mace coins for purposes of military and local payments.
