THAILAND. Government of Siam. 1,000 Baht, 11.2.1933. P-NL.Specimen printed by TDLR. This note is certainly one of the highlights of the auction and a piece which we had not known existed prior to seeing it. The note shows the design which ultimately carried over to the 1939 issue with portrait vignette of King Rama VIII as a boy. This 1933 dated note shows with a detailed vignette of King Rama the VII at left and shows the familiar design in a red-brown hue. Seen with Garuda bird at top center with detailed vignette of the Temple of Dawn below with three headed elephant at the lower right. Overprinted solid zero serial numbers and date in black with four punch cancels. Back design seen differing from the later date King Rama VIII notes with detailed vignette of a Temple and pagoda on an island being shared with the other denominations for the series. Three headed elephant shown as a watermark with the filed showing a geometric lathe design over it instead of being blank like the later issue.

The great quality is to be expected from a Thomas de la Rue specimen with the impression being quite perfect. Seen portraying the deep embossing collectors enjoy being easily viewed through the encapsulation surface. Simply resounding detail throughout with endless appeal from the ornate devices and lovely centering and margins. Very light mounting remnants are all that detract from this beauty with our only visible tell being the lower right corner of the back. This unlisted item is one that will certainly create excitement among advanced collectors and become a corner stone in any collection it enters.PMG Choice Uncirculated 64 Net. Previously Mounted.
