Bank title left. Roman god upper right. No plate letter. An incredibly rare and possibly unique $1000 Proof of this design type that is unplated in Haxby or Hoober. Hoober (305-272) provided an R-7 rarity rating to the type and did not give an accurate description of the design as it had likely not yet been seen. This is an impressive Proof, boldly designed and presented here in dark inks with broad margins. We can trace no other examples. This denomination was not offered in the 1990 ABNC sale. Very important Philadelphia type and worthy of a lofty bid.
