Baltimore, Maryland. E.T.J. Woodward. June 27, 1840. $1. PCGS Very Fine 30.;(KSG 6.1.5). A stunning rarity and only the second example we have seen. Central farm scene with flanking "1" counter at left and varying "1" corner dies. Signed by Woodward. E.T.J. Woodward was a real estate agent and gentleman farmer. He lived just north of the city of Baltimore and acted as the County coroner and magistrate. The note plated in Shank was a reasonably vile VG with lots of problems and a generally unsightly appearance. Despite that, it sold for $1495 back in 2004. This present offering is bright and fresh with a modicum of light folds. An extraordinary piece destined for an extraordinary collection.
