1882 Pattern Shield Nickel. Judd-1693, Pollock-1895. Rarity-7-. Nickel. Plain Edge. Proof-65 Cameo (PCGS). CAC.;Obv: Similar to the design of the regular issue 1882 nickel, but modified to omit the ornamental ball at the base of the shield. Rev: The same design that the Mint used to strike regular issue 1882 Shield nickels. Brilliant apart from delicate pale pink highlights, this fully impressed, nicely cameoed example makes a lovely impression in all regards. This is a highly elusive pattern in all metallic compositions, nickel specimens, as here, with an extant population of only a dozen or so coins. This beautiful Gem will appeal to pattern specialists as well as advanced Shield nickel enthusiasts.;
