The latter agreed to help them and successfully invaded Assam. This time they did not return home but stayed, having restored Chandrakanta to the throne. The king, however, was dissatisfied with being a Burmese puppet and fled to British territory from where he made a number of unsuccessful raids against the Burmese. When the Burmese failed to coax Chandrakanta back to Assam, they replaced him with an Ahom prince of uncertain ancestory, by name of Jogeśvara Simha.
