The reverse has the name DU PONT within an oval cartouche with the inscription THIS TOKEN IS MADE FROM EXPLOSION BONDED "DETACLAD." Light champagne drapes the reflective silvery surfaces across each side of this attractive specimen. These pieces were struck by the firm of August C. Frank in Philadelphia for Du Pont as a way of showcasing the latters experimental planchet material Detaclad. Using explosive force, Du Pont was able to bond a 25% nickel/75% copper alloy to a copper core, inspired by the way shrapnel is welded to armor plating after an explosion.,NGC ID: AMZF.,,
