Government records reflect that 925,464 1934 $1000s were printed in both LGS & DGS varieties for the twelve federal reserve districts, yet in the ten plus years since PCGS & PMG 3rd party currency grading services were established, only 31 gems (less than 1/200 of 1%) have been graded. No LGS Gems have been graded by either of the two grading services for New York, Cleveland, or Kansas City districts & only one Gem LGS note each has been recorded for Philly, Dallas & Chicago (the present lot). The strikingly low survivorship is equally remarkable for circulated 2211s, with only 3700 circulated notes of both LGS & DGS varieties graded for all twelve districts out of the nearly one million printing. <br /><br />Stunning, Gem 1934 LGS $1000 survivors like this note have the two hallmarks of greatness: quality & rarity, and savvy collectors have taken note. In April 2015, a 1934 Richmond $1000 LGS also graded PMG 66 EPQ, a finest known Gem example just like the current lot, fetched $47,000.00 in a public auction last year.，
