KM-18; FC-6; El-164-S; Gil-G-8-5. Population of one with two finer at NGC, with none seen of the date at PCGS. A great deal of patience is required when attempting to form a collection of this Central American country from the Spanish Colonial period. Years can go by between sightings of a coin like this one. The degree of preservation is simply astonishing, vastly exceeding what is typically encountered for the type. Exceptionally well struck, and with intense deep shades of blue and rose buried within the amalgam of darker tone. A coin that could easily become the centerpiece of any collection of related Guatemalan material.NGC AU-55.
