(t) CHINA. China - French Indo-China. Kouang-Tcheou-Wan. Fort Bayard. Silver Ingot, ND (ca. 1912-46). Graded EF-45 by Zhong Qian Ping Ji Grading Company. 三戳分镌:SING SANG OR PURE、SING SANG ARGENT PURE、K.T.W. FORT BAYARD。 <font size=-8>(t) (t) This lot was manufactured in China (including Hong Kong), Russia or Republic of Belarus and was sourced from outside the United States for this auction after tariffs were enacted by the United States. Lang style ingot with three stamps reading: SING SANG OR PURE SING SANG ARGENT PURE K.T.W. FORT BAYARD. A rather RARE ingot arising from the French Indo-China concession in Guangzhouwan. This leased territory was given to the French Empire under a similar lease system to the British Hong Kong, being leased to France for a period of 99 Years starting in 1898. Administered under the authority of French Indo-China, with the capital at Fort Bayard, modern Zhanjiang. Occupied by the Japanese during the Second World War, Guangzhouwan reverted to Chinese control after the War, when the French ceded their concession back to the Republic of China. The ingot is similar to Annamese Lang bars in manufacture, with similar style stamps to those seen on waifer money. Two of the three stamps are bold, and some very old ink is seek notating the weight in grams. Also of note are some old dealer stickers and price tags on the bottom of the bar. An intriguing type which we have never encountered before, and one we can find no record of trading. XRF analysis suggests a slightly impure alloy of roughly 95% silver, with trace elements of copper, indium, cadmium, and rhodium. </em>
