1786 Connecticut Copper. Miller 5.7-H.1, W-2610. Rarity-5-. Mailed Bust Left. AU-53 (PCGS).151.7 grains. Very sharply detailed and in this respect, nearly the equal of the Twin Leaf coin in our March 2019 sale that graded AU-53. The surfaces are a bit granular, and the color is deep brown with some slightly olive and rough almost earthen highlights around the peripheral details. Centered a little high on both sides, the obverse not really impacted, but parts of ET are off the flan. The trade off is a full date and broad rim toward 7 oclock. Struck on a clipped flan and noted by Clark to be a variety often found on defective planchets.PCGS# 686357. BASE PCGS# 331.
