Fr. 817. 1915 $10 Federal Reserve Bank Note. Kansas City. PMG Gem Uncirculated 66 EPQ.An exceptional example of a rare type and denomination. This note comes from a small run of comparable notes that also managed to defy the odds. Even though we dont know the exact circumstances behind the survival of this note and its counterparts, collectors can nonetheless be thankful for their survival as examples of this type and series would otherwise be "unobtanium" at this grade level. To that end, one must also look upon the aesthetic and technical fruits of that run to appreciate these survivors. Here pristine colors reflective of a fresh stock of ink are demonstrated by both the Treasury overprint and engraved portions of the design while elements we typically associate with period Federal Reserve Notes such as the back vignettes reflective of agriculture and industry complement the aesthetic distinctiveness of this type that was first discontinued in the early 1920s and later resurrected in the 1930s (briefly) amidst the headwinds of the Great Depression. For those who may wish to consider this specimen, these elements offer more than simply a compelling testament to the grade assigned by PMG, but also the fact that this note is unsurpassed in the PMG Population Report. Befitting that lofty and often coveted status, one may bear witness here to a bevy of distinctions that attest to not only uncommon traits such as expressive color, but also to lifelike detail and eye appeal that should rightly appeal to a wide cross-section of collectors who simply desire the best. PMG Pop 8/None Finer.
