This $2 Federal Reserve Bank Note issued under the short-lived Series of 1918 represents the second signature combination used for this series imprint. Held against the preceding Teehee - Burke - Talley - Van Zandt signature combination, the Elliot - Burke - Talley - Van Zandt signature combination is slightly more scarce at this grade level with eight confirmed pieces recorded in the PMG Population Report. Even so, this tidbit of numismatic minutiae does not fully account for the powerful visual impact this note offers. Here the Treasury overprint beckons with originality emphasized by a bold denim-blue shade while the ever-iconic vignette of the USS <em>New York</em> (BB-34) seen on the back conveys in no uncertain terms the strength of American naval power during the late 1910s.
