1652 Pine Tree Sixpence. Noe-32, Salmon 1-A, W-660. Rarity-6+. Without Pellets at Trunk. VF Details--Environmental Damage (PCGS).34.3 grains. The otherwise sharp obverse is soft at lower right, as also seen on the Salmon plate and many others, with the impression off center to 4:30, design elements from 1 oclock to 5 oclock running off the flan. The reverse is similarly bold overall, but imperfect centering has the border at lower left through the letters ANO N. The planchet is slightly ovoid in shape, free of flaws, wispy scratches few in and number and easily overlooked. A touch of glossiness to the texture points to an attempt to lessen the effects of roughness and light pitting that explain the PCGS qualifier. Warmly toned in a blend of russet and steel gray. No specimen of this rare variety was included in the Mills, Stickney, or Earle sales. With most survivors in lower grades and/or also impaired, our offering of the uncommonly sharp and relatively pleasing Richard August coin is a significant opportunity that deserves serious bidder consideration.PCGS# 911377.
