GREENLAND. Gronlands Styrelse. 50 Kroner, ND (1926-52). P-17a. Sieg-67A. PMG Very Fine 25.Jensen - Sveistrup signature combination. A note that many would pass over at first glance, but which, in reality, is a key offering for Greenland. This type and signature combination is extremely rare. According to Sieg, there are only two known in private collections of this signature, including one which we sold way back in 2012. This note might not yet be included in that number, giving collectors a rarely encountered opportunity to acquire this rare type. While three signature combinations are known, we believe that only six of this early type (first issued around 1926) are in private hands, with perhaps a few more in public collections. The more commonly seen issue is the later type, first issued in 1945 (Pick-17b, Sieg-68), although it would be a stretch to call that common either. The only available variety of this type was issued by KGH in the 1950s, which is what is typically seen for this design. An exceptional opportunity and one we do not expect to repeat anytime soon, and since it has been thirteen years since this variety was last offered by us, expect to wait a similar length of time after the gavel strikes on this piece. PMG Comments "Tears."
