CMQ.<strong>Obv:</strong> The Liberty Seated, Stars Obverse, With Drapery design that the Mint used for regular issue dime production from 1840 through 1860. <strong>Rev:</strong> The Liberty Seated dime reverse without legend that the Mint used for regular issue dime production from 1860 through 1891. A splendid Gem having satiny motifs and glittering mirror fields, although theres no Cameo designation recorded on the PCGS insert, and probably because the viewers eye more readily focuses on the rich toning that bathes both sides. Blended blue, gold and heather colors are seen and not only provide strong eye appeal, but speak volumes about this coins originality. Sharply struck virtually everywhere except some of the tiny details on the top tassel on the left side of the wreath. Libertys drapery and tresses are all bold and the obverse stars are each fully formed with complete centrils.<p>Long ago adopted by serious students of the Liberty Seated dime discipline, this transitional type was produced in the era when the legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA was being moved from the reverse to the obverse where it would replace the familiar Stars Obverse design, thus creating the so-called "dime without a country." A significant rarity, there are fewer than two dozen distinct specimens of Judd-233 known, according to the authoritative <em>uspatterns.com</em> website.PCGS# 4749.
