Engraver: Frederik Alsing. Although minted for use in Lauenburg (Lauenborg) this type was struck in Altona in a number of only 4,051 pieces. Excellent Mint State example of the only Danish emission from the small duchy on the borders of Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg-Schwerin.<p><p><em>Lauenburg ended up in Danish hands after the Napoleonic Wars. As part of the agreement on ceding Norway to Sweden, Denmark got Swedish Pomerania in return. That was quickly traded with Prussia for Lauenburg. Denmark kept Lauenburg until the 2nd Schleswig War when Prussia conquered it along with Schleswig-Holstein.</em>From the L. E. Bruun Collection.
