A superb Gem Uncirculated example of spectacular beauty. <p><em>This beautiful one-year type was struck in only 131 pieces for the kings birthday on the 29th of January. Most were used as largesse money at the riding court at Christiansborg Castle. </em><p><em>The issue seems to have been instigated by the minister Johann Friedrich Struensee, who was also the mentally ill kings physician. The following year Struensee was arrested, quartered and decapitated for having an affair with the Queen, Caroline Mathilde.</em><p>From the L. E. Bruun Collection.
