Islamic - Early Pre-Reform ARAB-SASANIAN: Abd al-Rahman b. Abd Allah, ca. 697, AR drachm (4.00g), AKWLA (= al-Kufa), AH79, A-A28, standing design, with some differences: Obv: group of 3 extra pellets outside the star-and-crescent (left, right, and bottom); Reverse: mint left and date right of the fire altar and attendants, date 79 in the Pahlavi script and an extra outer margin; full weight and superb quality, choice AU, RRR. There are 4 examples on CoinArchives (2.28g, 2.30g, 2.97g, 3.10g), also SICA-1:6 (2.16g) and Walker-Th.18 (2.92g), all significantly clipped and none showing an outer marginal border on the reverse. Some show parts of the extra pellets outside the obverse crescent-and-stars.
