BAHAMAS. Bahamas Government. 1 Pound, 1919. P-4p1. Front Proof. PMG Choice Uncirculated 64. An exceptional proof pasted on cardboard of this important Bahamas issue. This example showcases why proofs should always be considered: its engraving and printing are exceptionally clear, and showcase the design better than any issued note we have ever seen. This proof is also interesting as it features the pen signature of Percy W. D. Armbrister as Acting Colonial Secretary. On the printed proof as well as the issued notes his signature appears as Receiver General Commissioner of Currency. It is very likely that this exact piece is what was used to approve the final design by the American Bank Note Company before it went into production.
