Brilliant satin to reflective surfaces are untoned with no defects of note. The tiny copper plug, used as an electrolyte in this medal, has done its job over the centuries preventing the tinpest oxidation so prevalent for medals of this composition. The design elements are fully rendered and offer strong cameo-like contrast with the fields. One of the most famous medals celebrating the Treaty of Paris, signed by representatives of Great Britains King George III and the United States on September 3, 1783, ending the American Revolutionary War. The Dutch government presented a tin impression to John Adams in 1787, which later found its way into the Massachusetts Historical Society collection.<p>The medal is accompanied by an original advertising sheet, the text of which is in German. The sheet is certified by PCGS in a special large-size holder, the insert of which identifies it as a "Certificate of Authenticity" and provides no grade. Your catalogers inspection through the PCGS holder reveals a virtually complete, mostly smooth sheet of paper with a few minor creases and corner folds. The printing on the front is in black ink, all words bright and fully legible. The only significant blemishes are a few handwritten numbers and letters - 22, 22 and N7 - in dark brown ink on the back of the paper, the most prominent of which bleed through to the front of the paper. A lengthy stroke through the letter N has resulted in a minor internal tear in the paper. The ink markings on the back appear to be very old, perhaps even contemporary with the sheets issue. While we have offered numerous white metal impressions of this medal over the years, this is not only one of the nicest, but also the only one accompanied by the original advertising sheet.
