SURINAME. West-Indische Bank. 15 Centen, 1844. P-31r. Remainder. PMG About Uncirculated 50. Produced by JEZ, this 1844 remainder note is a scarcity from the West-Indische Bank in Suriname. The 15 Centen denomination presents a detailed and highly collectible example. Impressively, despite being over 175 years old, the punch-through embossing on the uniface design remains intact.

Rendered in red on watermarked paper and printed by Enschede, the note features a border designed by Fleischman and includes rosettes in the corners. The reverse side bears the inscription Goed voor Vijftien Centen / Verwisselbaar, op vertoon, bij de WEST-INDISCHE BANK ingevolge haar Reglement, maintaining a plain appearance as originally issued. Similar to other early releases for Suriname, its rarity is attributed to prudent issuing practices and high redemption rates. This rarity is particularly pronounced for this specific date and denomination, with only one other note of the same type certified by PMG.

This piece remains crisp and fresh, closely resembling its original state, with the exception of a couple of hinge remainders on the reverse side. It is further adorned with two small pieces of tape on the reverse, likely leading to the PMG comment "Previously Mounted," adding to its overall appeal.
