THRACE. Koson. AV Stater (8.41 gms), Mid 1st Century B.C. NGC MS, Strike: 5/5 Surface: 3/5. Slight Bend. HGC-3.2, 2049; RPC-1, 1701B. Obverse: Roman consul accompanied by two lictors advancing left; Reverse: Eagle, holding wreath, standing left on scepter. An incredibly fresh gold Stater with great detail in rather high relief, surrounded by impressive golden luster. The noted bend is, by contrast, hardly perceptible in-hand. A terrific example of this popular yet mysterious type.
