MD-46. Maryland. January 1, 1767. $4. PMG Very Fine 25. Milton 3P50R.3. Wide Margin Specimen. Lacking the "50" bronze denomination counter. A variety that was not included in the specimen sets from the Treasury. The only sales of this wide specimen we have seen were from our 2007 Ford sale in Atlanta. At that sale we sold an AU Narrow specimen for over $3,000, and Choice AU Wide specimen, with courtesy autograph, for over $5,000. PCGS Banknote cites "Pieces added, multiple repairs, minor design redrawn." All of these maladies take place around the periphery and do not seem to affect the actual integrity of the note. Any Wide Margin Type II Specimen is sure to realize a four-figure price.
