1788 New Jersey Copper. Maris 75-bb, W-5520. Rarity-4. Running Fox Before Legend. AU-50 (PCGS). 146.6 grains. Another important specimen of this fun variety. Pleasing chocolate brown with contrasting deep tan devices. The surfaces are a bit matte-like, but show good gloss and very nice eye appeal. A shallow horizontal scrape is seen in the right obverse field, and a couple little scratches between VA of NOVA and the mane blend in pretty well. The reverse is close to pristine. A little natural rim flaw at 1 of the date manifests as a tiny curved clip at UR of PLURIBUS. The shield details are complete, though this is an advanced die state, Die State 2.

A Running Fox this sharp and attractive is a very desirable property. As mentioned in the previous description, the census on this variety runs down to EF. PCGS# 783095. From the E Pluribus Unum Collection.
