1788 New Jersey Copper. Maris 67-v, W-5510. Rarity-1. Head Right, Brushed Mane. AU-50 (PCGS). 155.6 grains. An elegant and high grade example, with glossy chocolate brown surfaces and natural visual appeal. A darker streak of toning descends from the top of the obverse to the snout, and some dark encrustation is seen around the plow and among some of the design elements on the reverse. The centering is good, though the peripheries are a bit soft, as usual, owing to the rounded nature of the rims on this variety. The nice AU-50 (PCGS) in the 2019 E Pluribus Unum offering brought $3,600. PCGS# 767851. From the E Pluribus Unum Collection.
