1788 New Jersey Copper. Maris 49-f, W-5470. Rarity-5. Head Left. Fine-12 (PCGS). 152.6 grains. A perfectly choice example of the elusive Head Left type. Rich dark chocolate brown with lovely smooth surfaces. The obverse shows its usual slightly leftward centering, but NOVA is strong. Denticles frame the right side of the obverse and all but the bottom of the reverse. No bad marks are seen, just a short little scratch above C of CAESAREA. This pieces nearly pristine surfaces, excellent quality metal, and fine even color make it a superb selection for a fussy collector who has been looking for a Head Left with no issues.<p> PCGS# 766319.
