1787 New Jersey Copper. Maris 34-V, W-5120. Rarity-6-. Deer Head, Small Shield. Fine-12 (PCGS). 134.7 grains. Nice chocolate brown with a contrasting tan horsehead and plow. Pretty well centered, though the reverse is aligned to the lower right, as usual, and shows substantial swelling and softness at center. The surfaces are microscopically granular and betray no real evidence of the undertype. Scattered contact marks are seen, nothing serious. This is a very nice Maris 34-V at this grade level; a lot of well circulated examples of this variety are fairly ugly, but this one isnt. PCGS# 763330. From the E Pluribus Unum Collection.
