T-9. Confederate Currency. 1861 $20. PCGS Currency Superb Gem New 67 PPQ.No. 49470. Plate D. Blank back. This is quite possibly the finest known T-9 $20 extant, with four unusually wide margins, razor sharp ink signatures and serial numbers, and white paper nothing short of incredible. Printed by Hoyer & Ludwig in Richmond, the center is graced by a vignette of a three-masted sailing ship and an ornate decorative border surrounds the denomination at the left. Any Confederate note in Superb Gem 67 PPQ is rare, and we see no aspect of this note that fails to meet that demanding standard. PMGs highest graded to date is a single 66 EPQ and while PCGS Currency population figures are no longer available, we can confirm at least two 66 PPQs in existence. From the Mid-Continent Collection.
