1875-CC Liberty Head Half Eagle. Winter 2-B. VF Details--Damage (PCGS).Light pinkish-rose highlights enliven otherwise deep honey-gold surfaces on both sides of this relatively appealing example. Evidence for the PCGS qualifier is not readily discernible, but closer inspection reveals a curious pebbly texture. There are no sizable marks. In a series well known for condition rarities, the 1875-CC half eagle stands out as one of the most challenging and Mint State examples are extraordinarily elusive. Estimates vary as to the total number of extant specimens at the circulated level, from as few as 90 to as many as 150. Experts agree that there are only two confirmed Mint State examples. For collectors that find the higher grade coins out of reach either due to cost or unavailability, this VF survivor offers history and numismatic desirability at a more affordable price point.PCGS# 8337.
