1844 Liberty Head Half Eagle. AU-55 (PCGS). CAC.A sharply defined example that also features bright frosty luster. Pleasing honey-orange color overall with impressively smooth surfaces for the assigned grade. One of the scarcer Philadelphia Mint half eagles from the 1840s, the 1844 is seen less often than the 1843 or 1847. As with all early date Liberty Head half eagles the 1844 is highly elusive in Mint State, with premium Choice AUs such as this only marginally less rare. A find for the better date type collector or advanced Liberty Head half eagle enthusiast.PCGS# 8219. NGC ID: 25T7.From the Fairmont Collection - CAG Set.
