1796 Draped Bust Silver Dollar. BB-65, B-5. Rarity-4. Large Date, Small Letters. EF Details--Cleaned (PCGS).Tinges of pink, apricot and russet enhance otherwise silver-gray surfaces. Hairlines and a glossy texture are more pronounced for the obverse, the reverse with a more pleasing appearance thanks to having been better protected in the Millholland cabinet. (The coins were displayed with the obverse up therein.) Sharp EF Detail throughout with full, uniform denticulation bordering both sides. The second most available of 1796 dollars behind only the BB-61 die marriage, most of the estimated 800 to 1,400 examples of BB-65 are found in mid-level circulated grades, as here.
