1870 Liberty Seated Dime. MS-64 (PCGS). CAC.Mottled reddish-olive to a base of antique silver, the obverse contrasts with a more boldly toned reverse dressed in blended steel-olive, sandy-mauve and pewter gray. Both sides are universally lustrous with all but a few isolated design elements sharply rendered. A mintage of 470,500 pieces for this issue is limited by Legend Obverse Liberty Seated dime standards. Dismal survival rates ensued after release into commercial channels - largely the result of melting - and finding a truly PQ Mint State example at any grade point usually requires years of diligent searching. Superior Choice survivors like this are caviar for the specialist.PCGS# 4651. NGC ID: 23A2.CAC Population: 9; 4.From the Collection of James Allaire Millholland, 1842-1911.
