1858 Flying Eagle Cent. Large Letters, High Leaves (Style of 1857), Type I. MS-66 (PCGS).Glorious light tan surfaces exhibit a smooth satin texture that would accept nothing less than a full Gem Mint State rating. The second year 1858 Flying Eagle cent was produced in even greater numbers than the 1857, 24,600,000 vs. 17,450,000 circulation strikes. Both issues are of similar availability in numismatic circles, worn survivors plentiful and even Mint State coins readily obtainable in grades through MS-64. However, the type as a whole is scarce in MS-65 and rare any finer, making this beautiful PCGS MS-66 example an important offering for advanced specialists.PCGS# 2019. NGC ID: 2277.PCGS Population: 50; 13 finer (MS-67+ finest). From the Collection of James Allaire Millholland, 1842-1911.
