PHILIPPINES. Philippines - Peru. 8 Reales, ND (1834-37). Manila Mint. Ferdinand VII. PCGS EF-45. Countermark: AU Details. KM-83; Basso-55. Issued by decree of 2 October 1832, commencing 5 October 1832 until 20 December 1834. Countermark: Type V, crowned F.7.0 within circle. Applied to the obverse of a 1833-LIMAE MM Peru Republic 8 Reales (KM-142.3). This example displays a mottled mix of light and medium gray toning on both the obverse and reverse, with slight hints of luster in protected areas of the legends. The countermark is boldly struck, though somewhat unevenly, as the bottoms of the letters are missing due to the position of the countermark on the host coin design.
