CHINA. Aviation Commemorative Medal, ND (ca. 1937). Grade: VERY FINE. Weight: 16.86 gms. 43.53 mm x 38.39 mm. Gilt silver with red, white and blue enamel with red, white and blue ribbon. Obverse: Airplane left, sun above, two line inscription below "Hang Kong Jiu Guo Ji Nian Zhang" (Aviation Commemorative Medal), legend around "Jia Na Da An Sheng Hua Quai Tong Yi" (Unification of Overseas Chinese in Ontario, Canada), "Kang Ri Jiu Guo Zong Hui" (Anti-Japanese National Salvation Association). This handsome and decently preserved commemorative medal exhibits mostly intact enamel with only a few minor chips and natural voids. The reverse does exhibit some kind of adhesive in the center of the medal as well as the ribbon. Close inspection reveals a couple areas with small scratches mentioned for accuracy. Despite its shortcomings this interesting piece would make for a nice addition for the academic collector of medals seeking to expand their numismatic holdings.
