GERMANY. Cologne (Köln). Cologne Cathedral Bronze Medal, ND (ca. 1867). Geerts (Ixelles) Mint. ALMOST UNCIRCULATED. Ross-M286 (R4); Van Hoydonck-48; Reinecke-24; Bouhy-4. By J. and C. Wiener. Diameter: 59mm. Obverse: Exterior view of the cathedral from the south-southeast in its theoretical completed state. Reverse: Interior view with a sightline looking eastward down the choir toward the apse. A very attractive specimen with even toning and satiny fields. Minor obverse hairlines and an extremely small rim bump at the nine oclock position are the only hindrances to a higher grade. This variety is one of the keys to the Most Remarkable Edifices of Europe series, with specimens rarely appearing on the market. Rare and highly desirable.
