1837 Modified Matron Head Cent. N-5. Rarity-2. Plain Cords, Small Letters. AU Details--Cleaned (PCGS). A rather scarce <em>Red Book</em> variety, N-5 being the only die variety representing the Plain Cords, Small Letters entry. Very light hairlines are present in the fields from an old cleaning but this cent has retoned to a lovely golden-tan and light steel-brown. Still slightly lustrous and there are absolutely no marks.
