1816 Matron Head Cent. N-8. Rarity-3. AU-55 (PCGS). Lovely medium chocolate-brown with broad arcs of deeper steel toning on both sides. Glossy with traces of original luster and very pleasing overall. No serious marks but a couple of thin scratches before the mouth might serve to identify this specimen in the future. An advanced die state with prominent rim crumbling at stars 9-10, and 11-12. The reverse crack through NITED ST is clearly visible, while the one at the tops of OF has been lost to the flowlines of the later state. Noyes photo #37225. PCGS# 36544. NGC ID: 224Z.
