Richard II (1377-1399), Mule Noble of Calais, struck with the Post-Treaty Period obverse die of Edward III (c. 1369-1377), London, reading EDW | ARD DEI GRA..., King standing in ship, holding sword and shield, flag at stern, ornaments 1-1-1-1, quatrefoils 4/3, ropes 2/1, rev. floriate cross in double tressure, crowned leopards at angles, annulets at corners of central panels, lombardic R at centre, 1h, i.m. cross pattée (North 1280/1306; Spink 1520/1661), unfortunately doubled at Kings head and lightly clipped with resultant clashing across designs, otherwise nicely toned and of pleasingly honest appearance, struck details very fine, the reverse bolder the muling excessively rare
