NETHERLANDS. Dutch Revolt. Siege of Kampen. Fantasy 21 Stuivers, 1578. PCGS EF-40. Van Gelder-139A; MO-pg. 449. Weight: 11.85 gms. 28.2 mm x 29.4 mm. Siege: 20 June - 20 July 1578. Dies by Carl Wilhelm Becker (1772-1830). Square uniface flan with central inscription stamp, Legend: EXTREM:SVBSIDI:/15*CAMPEN*78, denomination below (XXI), three castles around. This interesting issue, produced more than 100 years after the siege, was probably done so for collectors as hole fillers rather than some nefarious reason. Whatever the initial intention was for their manufacture is somewhat irrelevant in todays collecting hobby. Being a known later made piece that is now roughly 200 years old still makes it collectible adding depth to this complex series.
