THRACE. Mesambria. AR Tetradrachm, ca. 125-65 B.C. NGC Ch VF. Graffiti. HGC-3.2, 1568; Pr-1072. Struck in the name and types of Alexander III (the Great) of Macedon. Obverse: Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin; Reverse: Zeus seated left on throne, holding eagle and scepter; in left field, helmet right above control letters; control letters below throne. Well-centered and attractively toned with spots of vibrant iridescence. Graffiti is noted on the upper reverse fields.
