NORWAY. Thor Mohlen. 25 Rixdaler Croner, 1695. P-A3. PMG Extremely Fine 40. No. 450. With matching Talon/counterfoil. This scarce Norwegian note is extremely collectible for its old age (1695), and gothic style. With red, hand stamped, unbroken wax seals. Punch through embossing is readily noticed through the back of the third party holder. This type is often considered to be one of the first uses of paper money in Europe. One of just five examples graded by PMG, with auction appearances being extremely rare for this type, especially with the matching Talon. We have not offered this type to our bidders sine our January 2016 NYINC auction. Sure to draw spirited bidding from Scandinavian collectors. PMG comments "Talon Reattached". PMG Pop 1/1 Finer.
