MACEDON. Kingdom of Macedon. Alexander III (the Great), 336-323 B.C. AR Tetradrachm (14.28 gms), Pella Mint, ca. 336-328 B.C. NGC VF, Strike: 5/5 Surface: 4/5. Fine Style. Flan Flaw. SNG ANS-417-8. In the name and types of Philip II. Obverse: Laureate head of Zeus right; Reverse: Youth, holding palm frond, riding horse right; below, spearhead right. Presenting a well centered strike and a portrait that is of undoubtedly fine style, this specimen, with the noted flan flaw below the ear of Zeus, displays some even wear across the high points, though stands as a far superior piece than the overall grade would indicate. As such, a premium-quality piece for the grade assigned.
