1828 John Quincy Adams Campaign Medal. DeWitt-JQA 1828-2. White Metal. Very Good, Edge Bumps.39 mm. Slightly irregular planchet. Pierced for suspension, as issued. A significant rarity, which is usually found in very low grades. The DeWitt plate piece is slightly poorer in actual condition than this example but is missing a chunk from 11 oclock to 1 oclock; the McSorley example sold in the Heritage sale of November 2011. It was intact but only marginally better than the DeWitt piece and brought $1,673. The only 19th century sales where it appears are the McCoy and Satterlee collections. To say the least, this is a rare opportunity to obtain this major rarity.
